Awesome Watch and Awesome Deal- Better Than Ionic, Vivosmart 3 and Fenix 3

I do not write reviews often but wanted to for this great watch. A little history, I have tried and returned the following, Fitbit Ionic, Garmin Vivosmart 3 and Garmin Fenix 3. This watch is the combination I was looking for at a great price! At $290 which is almost the same price as the Vivosmart 3 and Ionic, this watch is in a completely different league of capabilities. The Ionic is probably the most "idiot proof" and offers great tracking, it just didn't have enough sport features and is a little simplistic, the Vivosmart 3 just looked a bit feminine and felt fragile. I need to add that I am not a great believer in integrating your phone into watch for smart features, why look at 1.2" screen to read messages when in your pocket there sits a bright vivid 5"+ smart phone screen that adds a touch screen keyboard to respond etc. To me a smart watch is still just adding another screen to your smart phone and one that is way inferior. I was excited about the fenix 3, until it arrived, the screen is extremely dim inside and hard to read. The resolution is lacking and overall I thought not very impressive, the software was updated to the latest Firmware was still extremely slow to respond and I could not once get the GPS to sync on the watch. Weight training is not listed as an app and to build a custom workout would be tedious. In my opinion the watch is really showing its age and at the same price $290 the Suunto Spartan Sport blows it away. The screen is crisp, bright and responsive. Upgrading to the latest firmware is easy and as of yet I have not had the issue of syncing to the smart phone app. GPS sync is almost immediate the list of sport activities is mind blowing and the watch feels very well made and sturdy. If you are in the same price point, sub $300, this is the watch to get. It is quite large, but that is how I like a watch to look. Good luck with your decision.

As sport watch I'm happy with it but as smart watches it has some firmware bugs (e.g. zombie notifications). I hope that Suunto developers will improve this in next updates.
